How Does a USB Water Pump Work? (Working Principle)

USB water pump is a brushless dc pump with a working voltage of 5V DC, so it is also called 5V DC water pump. Its pump impeller rotates at high speed in the pump chamber (The pump chamber must be filled with liquid before turning on the pump). The liquid in the pump chamber rotates with the impeller. Under the action of centrifugal force, the liquid is thrown out by the impeller at the outlet. The speed of the thrown liquid gradually slows down in the diffusion chamber of the pump body. After the liquid is thrown out, a vacuum low-pressure area is formed at the center of the impeller. The liquid in the liquid pool flows into the water pump through the suction pipe under the action of the external atmospheric pressure. The volume of the diffusion chamber of the USB water pump body is fixed. As the amount of liquid thrown out increases, the pressure gradually increases, and finally it is discharged from the outlet of the water pump. In this way, the liquid is continuously sucked up from the liquid pool and then continuously discharged from the outlet of the water pump.

1.How to use

  1. Take out the USB water pump and install the outlet pipe into the outlet position of the pump body, select a hose that matches the outlet pipe to connect it, and place the pump flat or sideways in a suitable position in the fish tank.

 

  1. After installation, connect the matching power adapter and the water pump can work normally (if there is no water during the first use, please disconnect the power connection several times to exhaust the air in the water pump!)

 

2. Precautions

Before using a USB water pump, you need to pay attention to the following points:

  1. Before using the water pump, you must first check whether the voltage marked on the nameplate of the pump is consistent with the actual voltage. If it does not match, please do not use it to prevent the water pump or power supply from burning out.

To prevent demagnetization, we should operate the pump under the specified temperature conditions, and it is strictly forbidden to exceed the medium temperature. You can install a platinum resistance temperature sensor  on the outer surface of the magnetic pump isolation sleeve to detect the temperature rise in the annular gap area, so as to alarm or shut down when the temperature exceeds the limit. Prevent dry friction (some waterless protection can be ignored) and minimize idling time.

Install the pump below the liquid level. As USB water pump is a centrifugal water pump and cannot automatically exhaust air, you should submerge or installe it  below the liquid level when in use. Reduce idling time (some waterless protection can be ignored). The water pump should not be idling as much as possible. Since there is no medium lubrication during idling, it is easy to wear. Do not exceed the rated voltage. The pump must be used at the rated voltage. Any overpressure or other functional requirements must be stated in advance.

1. Water Pump Does not Work

Reason: The power is not connected.

Solution: Remove the front cover to check whether there is foreign matter around the rotor and clean it up, check whether the rotor and shaft are sensitive, and replace the new rotor and shaft core if the wear is serious.

3. Flow rate decreases

Reason: The connecting pipe or water filter cover is blocked
